After a few years away from Matera, I felt the urge to return to my hometown and create a place that reflected my way of welcoming people. Octantis was born from this return: from the experience I’ve gained in the hospitality industry and from a deep connection with Matera, a city I know well and that continues to surprise me every day.

I imagined an elegant, intimate, and contemporary space, where a stay isn’t just a well-appointed room, but a more personal experience. A place from which to explore the city, receive honest advice, and navigate itineraries, restaurants, visits, and experiences.

The name Octantis evokes the star and the ancient instrument used by travelers to find their way. It’s an image I feel close to: because for me, welcoming also means helping those who arrive feel immediately at home. I look forward to welcoming you to Matera.
